There are some Albany & Berkeley streets which I prefer to use. They tend to be one way, separated by a median strip, or have no cross traffic. Here are some of them.
North/South Routes
Masonic Avenue – Albany to Berkeley – runs west of the elevated BART tracks
Sacramento [Dwight — Hopkins] – Median Strip
Arlington [Kensington — Marin Circle Fountain] – Median Strip and few stop signs
Eastshore Highway [Gilman — Hearst] – No Cross Traffic
Masonic [Brighton — Gilman] – No Cross Traffic
Grizzly Peak [Kensington — Lawrence Berkeley Labs] – Few stop signs
Grizzly Peak [Lawrence Berkeley Labs — Fish Ranch Road] – Spectacular views
Telegraph [Dwight — Highway 24] – Wide road
East/West
Delaware & Hearst from San Pablo to Shattuck
Hearst [Sacramento — Milvia] – No Cross Traffic
Delaware [San Pablo — Sacramento] – Wide street
Dwight [Milvia — Warring] – One Way
Alcatraz [San Pablo — Claremont] – Less traffic than Ashby
