Looking to buy a light, bright, airy home in Berkeley’s Thousand Oaks Neighborhood? Visit 1661 San Lorenzo Avenue at Sunday’s Open House!

Wendy and Polk Stewart have lived a few blocks away from us in Berkeley’s Thousand Oaks Neighborhood for many years.  I sat down with them a few weeks ago so they’d be able to tell you what makes their home … and our 1000 Oaks Neighborhood so special.  Carol and I have lived 6 blocks north of Solano Avenue for over 25 years … and you’ll love living here too.

Just click on each image or photo to view each video … then call 510-526-6668 or email se****@be***********.com to talk to us directly!

What makes 1661 San Lorenzo so special

It’s such a wonderful home … find out why Wendy & Polk are selling.

Rivoli, Cugini, Khana Peena, Sweet Basil, Fonda, Peet’s … and two great bookstores just a few blocks away.

Just became a professor at UC Berkeley?  The University of California is just a few miles away.

The first time they saw it, they rejected it.  Then they saw it online and bought it… an amazing story.

Lots of photos, video and comments about 1661 San Lorenzo at 1661sanlorenzo.com

This beautifully sited Spanish Mediterranean home in Berkeley’s wonderful Thousand Oaks Neighborhood.

What makes it special? Many of the qualities with have in our own home. We’ve lived just a few blocks away in Thousand Oaks for over 25 years, and love the neighborhood!

A SENSE OF “UP-NESS”

And what is “up-ness”? That’s when a home is sited a few steps up from the street and positioned with a sense of privacy from neighboring homes. “Up-ness” makes a home feel light, bright and airy. It gives you a view of the trees and street … with the privacy which comes from being able to look out, but not have people look in at you.

Photos capture the feeling … and the sunrise-sunset satellite maps show how the light changes throughout the year. The living room bay window catches morning and afternoon sun (and the sun is low in the winter so it streams in, and high in the summer)

A SENSE OF FLOW

The rooms flow wonderfully into each other.

Enter through the sheltered arched doorway; go straight ahead for the kitchen and breakfast nook or turn right for the living room with the large bay window.

From the kitchen or living room, step into the dining room (that’s where Polk said “We have to buy this house!” … and then into the central hall, bedrooms and out to the patio with “writer’s cottage”

A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

The Miramar, San Lorenzo & Capistrano blocks are filled with interesting people and active neighborhood association. As you explore Thousand Oaks, you’ll see lots of nice people, kids, dogs and cats.

A WONDERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD

You’re just a few blocks from Solano Avenue with dozens of restaurants, grocery stores, cafes, pharmacy, camera shop, book store, art space … and more.

Urban but not urban – you’re near shops but living in a residential area.

Solano Avenue hosts the Annual Solano Stroll in September; Kensington Circle just to the north has a pleasant weekly farmers’ market with fresh produce, fish, meat, cooked food, and music.

AMAZING DIVERSITY OF RESTAURANTS

Rivoli, Barney’s, Zachary’s, Sweet Basil Thai, Khanna Peena and Ajanta Indian, Cactus, Jerusalem Mediterranean, Cugini, Fonda,, La Farine Baker, Peet’s, Starbucks .. and even a iScream and Xocolate if you have a sweet tooth.

SOLD! Thousand Oaks sound like a tree-lined, walkable and urban dream-of-a-neighborhood. Also love your description of up-ness! Great presentation, too.
