Hidden Gems Of Berkeley Bicycle Tour is Saturday 15 May 2010 starting from the Northbrae Branch Library

I met John Coveney about 6 months ago and found out that he was the cartographer for the amazing map “Hidden Gems Of Berkeley”

I’m not sure it’s available digitally yet, but I just found out that there is a bicycle tour of the “byways and treasures of Northbrae and Westbrae Neighborhoods”

This sounds so good, I’m simply reprinting the email in its entirety so you can know about it.

Here’s where I uploaded my mapped photos of Berkeley’s delightful Northbrae/Westbrae Neighborhood

Hidden Gems of Berkeley Bicycle Tour:  the Byways and Treasures of the Northbrae and Westbrae Neighborhoods

Saturday May 15, 2010,  10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The 8th annual Hidden Gems of Berkeley Ride will feature the unique, vernacular treasures and grassroots’ greening initiatives of Central Berkeley.   Enjoy a vivid and fun interpretive and historic tour of the curious, the quirky, and crafted features that makes Berkeley unique:  native and community gardens, paths, whimsical gifts to the street; unusual cultural and natural features and buildings.   The ride begins at the Northbrae Branch Library (1170 The Alameda at Hopkins).   Bring lunch and water.  The event is family friendly (over the age of 10), and the pace is leisurely on gently sloping or level  terrain.  Updated Hidden Gems of Berkeley maps will be available for a donation of $5.   Bike Tour will be led by John Steere, John Coveney, and Marleen Fouche.   Check out www.bpfp.org <http://www.bpfp.org/>  for more information.

Co-sponsored by Berkeley Partners for Parks (BPFP), Livable Berkeley, and the Bicycle Friendly Berkeley Coalition.
